Over many years I have presented arts programmes for Voice FM Community Radio called variously “The Arts Show”, TAP, and most recently “Arts Incite”. This year after disastrous management issues, I stopped presenting, and currently they have no arts programme.
Many arts people have suggested replacing it with a podcast – and here it it!
Arts Incite is now under the auspices of Ballarat Arts Alive, our peak arts body for Ballarat (and currently I am Secretary of BAA).
To date we have two episodes- In our first, Paul Gordon-Smith talked about town planning and how the built environment affects us physically and mentally. He also spoke of his work renovating one of Ballarat’s beautiful 19th century homes.
In the second, Joan Goldsmith talks about Buninyong Film Festival – on 19 & 20 June 2026.
I’d like to thank Alan Mallows, a clever sound engineer, who has produced most of the episodes we’ve trialed or published. He’s a great mentor.
Long Exposure: The Legacy of Prahran College
A core exhibition of Ballarat International Foto Biennale (BIFB), Long Exposure exhibited almost 200 works by 50 of the Prahran College alumni in the heritage Miners Tavern, 23 August – 19 October 2025. Curated by Merle Hathaway, it featured contemporary work in all photographic media and techniques, along with video interviews by Peter Leiss of many of the alumni, and screened works from the 1970s. 5,320 visitors attended, many leaving glowing reviews in the visitor book.

The Prahran Legacy: Beyond the Basement
Magnet Galleries Inc, at Docklands 4 – 25 May 2025
This exhibition for the first time was open to all artists who majored in photography at Prahran College in the 1970s and 80s and the focus was on their current or mature work. Magnet is a specialist, not-for-profit photography gallery.
